Cambodia Records No New Covid-19 Cases for 5 Days Straight

PURSAT: The Prime Minister of Cambodia relayed a report from the Ministry of Health that Cambodia has been free of Covid-19 cases for five days straight, from 20-24 October 2022.

Speaking at a gathering of more than 5,000 flood victims in Pursat province on Tuesday morning, 25 October, Prime Minister Hun Sen discussed how Cambodia had been previously free of Covid-19 cases for 52 days straight before infections briefly went up again. However now, Cambodia has once again gone five days straight without any cases, showing a positive sign for the future.

The Prime Minister stated that Cambodia's success in reducing the Covid-19 infection rate was due to widespread participation from the people in wearing masks and implementing the recommended health measures. This community vigilance allowed the country to reopen again, along with its economy, schools and more.

"Both the Covid-19 crisis and the floods have made it difficult for us, but it is only because we have peace and political stability that we were able to overcome this together," said the Prime Minister.
